This morning we worked on a practice math page for homework. All problems were addition. The kids also had the option of writing two sentences on the back to receive a sticker!
We had our morning meeting. We will be organizing our calender dates based on two colors. Blue for odd and green for even. This will give us the opportunity to discuss even and odd numbers each day!
After morning meeting we had sing along with the other two Kindergarten classes. The kids really enjoy doing this on Fridays!
Centers went well. We had two rotations to finish out our week!
After centers Mrs. Peaks class and mine listened to a few books on tape. They all did a great job listening and answering questions about the book after!
Following lunch we worked on our short o little books. The kids colored the pages and then read with a friend. We then read and discussed together.
During math we did a domino subtraction activity. The kids used domino's to subtract the smaller number from the bigger number. They had to create number sentences and then solve. It took a little work to get started but by the end nearly all students were working independently to create and solve their own number sentence!
We then had Fairy Tale time. We did an activity with 5 freckled frogs. We read the story and then made our own frogs! The kids had a great time doing this and they all turned out good!!
We had read aloud after we finished our frogs and then packed up to go to art!
The kids were great all week!
This weekend: Please read with your children. Encourage them to tap out/sound out words in whatever book they are reading. Read with them several times for 5-10 minutes throughout the day so they do not get exhausted reading all at once. Please work on addition and subtraction facts 0-10 this weekend as well. 10 minutes each day will help tremendously! Please write a few sentences each day as well. 1 with a period and 1 with a question mark. Encourage them to think about capitol letters at the beginning and punctuation at the end. A few minutes each day can make a huge difference in your child's performance at school! Most importantly get them outside to run around and get fresh air this weekend!
Have a GREAT weekend!
Looking forward to Dr. Seuss week!!!
